The Real Reason Bow Wow Joined Cash Money Records

bow-wow-lil-wayne-heats-game
Recently rapper Bow Wow made headlines when he announced he was joining the Cash Money family, however some of those headlines were not good ones. Now Bow Wow is speaking out about his decision to join the record label, and he wants the critics to know he “has been down with Cash Money” for a long time.

Check out this quote from a recent blog he did for Global Grind.

To anyone who’s confused or says I don’t belong in Cash Money…Let me remind you that I’ve been down with Baby, Slim, Wayne and the whole Cash Money family from the beginning. 10 years ago when we really were “Lil” me and Wayne did a song for the Hardball movie soundtrack. Baby was influential in my third album. Last year, Wayne and I spent 2 months together in New Orleans filming Hurricane Season. So please don’t be misinformed and think I’m just jumpin’ on “what’s hot” or trying to ride others success. This has been my extended family for more than a decade.

What do you guys think? Is he going to be making hit records with the Cash Money family and Lil Wayne?

Violence Erupts Outside Lil Wayne’s Tour Bus

lil-wayne-young-money-on-tour-bus
A hailstorm of stones and bottles rocked a Lil Wayne tour bus after a concert in Arizona last week — and cops say at least one shot was fired in the melee.

According to police, it all went down after Wayne’s show last Wednesday at the Cricket Pavilion in suburban Phoenix — when 2 buses from his 4-bus entourage stopped at a nearby apartment complex.

Law enforcement sources tell us witnesses saw several women getting on and off the buses — and it was then that certain people in the complex began to get violent.

Witnesses told police they heard at least one shot fired during the altercation — though it’s unclear who fired it.

Cops arrived to the scene and broke things up — but we’ve learned a 15-year-old boy has since filed a police report claiming one of Wayne’s bodyguards roughed him up during the chaos, bruising a few of his ribs.

Cops interviewed Wayne at a nearby hotel after the incident, where the rapper told cops he was on one of the buses when the attack started — but his bus took off almost immediately.

Calls to Wayne’s people have not yet been returned.
I think that if anything does come of this, Weezy F Baby’s bodyguard will have to do community service or pay a fine, which Wayne would take care of. How about you guys? Let me know in the comments down below.

lil-wayne-fucked-up
Last night Lil Wayne cancelled his Canadian tour dates, and many rumors began swirling around the internet. One of the rumors [that looked to be true] was that there was trouble at the border, however now representatives for Lil Wayne are saying otherwise.

In a statement to SOHH, a representative for the rapper says: “Lil Wayne, due to illness, was advised by his doctors to cancel the Young Money Presents: America’s Most Wanted Music Festival tour stops in Western Canada. Reginae: Hi!

Sonya: How are you?
Reginae: Good.

Sonya: How is Lil’Wayne as Dad?
Reginae: Very good! I went over his house, like, on–like, last week.

Sonya: Did you have a good time?
Reginae: Mm-hmm. I brought my friends

Sonya: Does he help you with your homework?
Reginae: Mm-hmm. He’ll help me with my projects. And either he helps me when I call him on the phone, or it’s my tutor.

Sonya: What subjects do you need a lot of help with?
Reginae: Math.

Sonya: So, he’s really great at math?
Reginae: Mm-hmm. Real good.

Sonya: You can just tell him a problem over the phone and he just has it?
Reginae: Mm-hmm!

Sonya: Wow! Okay. Has he ever had to discipline you?
Reginae: No. He just tells me for right and wrong. He don’t holler at me or nothing; he just tells me for right and wrong.

Sonya: Good. So how often do you get to go see him?
Reginae: [In] the summer, [I see him] every of other week. And when I have, like, breaks off of school.

Sonya: Does he ever come by the house?
Reginae: No, I come to see him when he’s down here.

Sonya: Do you ever get to go on the road with him?
Reginae: Yes.

Sonya: What’s that like?
Reginae: It’s fun ’cause you get to go all around the world.

Sonya: What’s your favorite place to visit with your dad?
Reginae: Minnesota, ’cause it has the biggest mall.

Sonya: So, you like to go shopping?
Reginae: Yeah [laughs], and they have a little roller coaster in the mall.

Sonya: Does your dad spoil you?
Reginae: Yes.

Sonya: What’s your favorite thing he ever got you?
Reginae: Hmmm…my favorite thing he ever got me? He gave me a necklace for my birthday from Amsterdam.

Sonya: Wow, that’s nice. Do you ever get to go to the studio with your dad?
Reginae: Mm-hmm.

Sonya: Tell me about that.
Reginae: I went to the studio with him because I had to do a song for school.

Sonya: Do you ever get to go into the booth with him? Have you recorded with your dad?
Reginae: Umm…not with my dad, but I recorded, like, I was in the booth and he was right there.
Toya: ’Nae what about that song you and your daddy did when you talked about him. That day…
Reginae: Oh, yeah! That day. He was asking me questions and, um, I answered it, and now it’s in a song.

Sonya: Awww! Which song is that?
Toya: It’s a song dedicated to Reginae. We don’t know the name of it.

Sonya: Okay, so what do you want to be when you grow up?
Reginae: I want to be a lot of things. I want to be a singer, a pediatrician–’cause I like to work with babies.

Sonya: Do ever want to rap? Do you rap now?
Reginae: Yes. I have a group.

Sonya: What’s the name of the group?
Reginae: OMG Girls.

Sonya: OMG Girls? So where have y’all been performing? Tell me a little bit about your group.
Reginae: It’s me [and three friends], and we performed at a showcase. … That was fun, we did good.

Sonya: At school do kids treat you differently because Lil’ Wayne is your dad?
Reginae: Some of them. Not all of them.

Sonya: So how can you pick out the kids that like you for you or that like you for your dad?
Reginae: It’s when they don’t–like, when I first come [and] they find out that my daddy is who he is, and now they want to be my friend.

Sonya: So how do you treat kids that only want to be your friend because of your dad?
Reginae: Real good, ’cause if they treat me with respect then I will treat them with respect.

Sonya: That is some good advice. Well, Reginae, thanks for taking some time to speak with us. Have a good night.
Reginae: Bye-bye.

VH1 Behind The Music: Lil Wayne on September 10th

lilwayne_yadigg
Premieres September 10th at 9pm et/pt By the time he was 11 years old, Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., aka Lil Wayne, had lost his virginity, dealt drugs, snorted cocaine and nearly shot himself to death after accidentally pulling the trigger on a gun he found in his mother’s bedroom. That was life in the dangerous, poverty stricken neighborhood on New Orleans 17th ward, where Lil Wayne grew up. A musical prodigy, hip hop was Wayne’s ticket to a better life. As a nine year old, he began recording rhymes with his surrogate family and mentors, Baby and Slim Williams, who owned the fledging label, Cash Money Records. Together, they shared in Wayne’s success, first as a teenage sensation with the Hot Boys, then as a solo artist. But Wayne’s path to stardom was littered with personal challenges.

The violence of New Orleans struck again as his stepfather was gunned down when Wayne was just 14. To support his mother he dropped out of high school and put everything he had into jumpstarting his music career. A year later, at 15, Wayne became a father and now had a family to support. Then, just as his solo career was taking flight, his hometown was decimated by Hurricane Katrina, a tragedy that profoundly affected Wayne. Rumors of an addiction to prescription cough syrup and an arrest in New York City for gun possession only fueled the controversy surrounding the outlaw rapper. Regarded as a renegade, Wayne then released a prolific and game changing record, Tha Carter III. Almost instantly, Lil Wayne rocketed to superstardom and became the pop icon of 2008. The self proclaimed “greatest rapper alive” received the ultimate validation when Wayne walked away with four Grammy Awards, completing a remarkable journey for the 27 year old.
