It was one of those Hip-Hop moments fans have been waiting for. This past Friday during Lil Wayne‘s set at the 2011 Bonnaroo festival, the show’s headliner gave the audience a real treat that will forever live in the hearts when he brought out original Cash Money member Mannie Fresh. The moment marked the first time in years the pair publicly stood side by side. Earlier that day the New Orleans producer hinted at a possibly union.

“It’s a possibility. Like I said, there’s no beef. No animosity,” Fresh said. “I got a great deal of respect for Wayne. You know, from where he started to where he at right now. He’s on top of his game. So it’s a possibility [we could reunite]. You never know.”

Mannie Fresh was an integral part of the independent New Orleans label, ran by founders Bryan “Birdman” Williams and his brother Slim. Fresh gave Cash Money the signature sound that was heard all throughout the rosters list of hits from Juvenile’s breakout single “Ha” to BG and the Cash Money Millionaire’s highly touted “Bling, Bling” track down to Fresh’s release alongside Birdman on their “Big Tymers” albums. The CM roster was eventually gutted with Fresh being the last member to depart the label citing various indifferences with the Williams brothers.

Following Wayne and Mannie’s onstage union the bigger question is will the pair go back to their days of creating hit-making music together. According to Fresh, the door is never closed.

“That would be hot,” he said. “But, you know, my half, I’m there. We’re going to leave the rest of it on him, you know what I’m saying?”
