Lil Wayne Talks About No Ceilings Mixtape [Video]

When you’re hip-hop’s most active touring act and prolific song maker, sometimes your agendas don’t mesh. Lil Wayne’s been all around the world on his I Am Music tour and Young Money Presents: The America’s Most Wanted Music Festival, but he says it’s too difficult to record while you’re on the road. He has a studio on the bus, but you can’t record when the bus is rolling. But now, with touring over and Wayne settled back into his routine of living in the studio, he had time to craft No Ceilings — No Ceilings because the sky is the limit.

“I don’t like to do real songs on there, ’cause the producers be wanting their money,” he told DJ Scoob Doo about beat jacking. “So I just do shit that’s already out. It’s easier. Niggas be like, ‘You killed that nigga on his own song.’ That’s not the intentions. No, I did not kill nobody on their song. I like the song. That’s why I liked it. I didn’t kill them. I ain’t even rapping like them. I killed their song though.”

A leak of the mixtape popped up early last week, but Weezy F Baby wants everyone to know that it wasn’t the official version — he recorded more records, such as “Single,” the mixtape title track and a unofficial remix to Beyoncé’s “Sweet Dreams,” for the proper version.

“I got great producers and great friends that gave me great beats,” Wayne said. “I went in and did four or five new songs.”

“I’m gonna scare the shit out everybody in the muthafuckin’ rap game,” Wayne told us with a grin.

Wayne and Scoob Doo will be releasing “The Nino Brown Story 2″ DVD later this year.

Tinchy Stryder names Lil Wayne as a huge influence

Tinchy Stryder has revealed who he would love to form a fantasy band with.

The ‘Number One’ rapper was asked who he’d have on board by the Independent, and amongst his choices are Mary J. Blige and Weezy F Baby.

“I think Mary J Blige is one of a kind. Lil Wayne is a huge influence for me.” Stryder said. “He’s always experimenting and isn’t afraid to come out of his box and I respect that.”

“Red Hot Chili Peppers’ bass player is pretty cool and I’m trying to introduce the word ‘Flee’ to everybody… it’s for when something is so fly, it’s flee. Basically, he stole my word for his name.”

As for drums, Tinchy name checked Travis Barker of Blink 182. “I watched some program about the band and Travis’ playing blew me away.”

Stryder released his new single ‘You’re Not Alone’ on October 26th. He’s also just announced an early 2010 tour.

Lil Wayne can add another lawsuit to his growing rap sheet. The popular rapper and his dad Birdman were recently hit with a copyright lawsuit from a man who claims his work was used without “proper permission or payment”.

Check out what the Associated Press is reporting down below.

A Florida man wants rappers Lil Wayne and Birdman to show him respect — for using his voice on a song with that title.

Thomas Marasciullo filed a copyright infringement lawsuit Friday in a Manhattan federal court against the rappers, their record label and various music distribution outlets.

The lawsuit says Cash Money Records had him record some “Italian-styled” repartee in 2006. The suit says his work was used without pay or permission on “Respect” and other tracks from the rappers’ joint 2006 album “Like Father, Like Son” and Birdman’s 2007 album “5 Star Stunna.”

A lawyer and representatives for the label didn’t immediately return messages.

The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages for Marasciullo, who lives in Florida’s Hernando County.

Lil Wayne is living it up before he gets sent away to the clinker!

Check out what our friends over at the The305 are saying down below.

I had this photo all week and didn’t post it. But I saw the NY Post and a couple other sites mention some gossip about Lil Wayne hanging out with fellow rapper, Nelly at Miami Beach hotspot, Liv. Photo above was taken a couple days ago to confirm The New York Post’s “spy” reporting (click on the photo to enlarge). here’s what they said:

“Lil Wayne is enjoying his freedom before he starts a jail term for possessing an illegal gun. The rap superstar who pleaded guilty last week to possessing a .40-caliber semi-automatic cops found in a Louis Vuitton bag on his tour bus outside the Beacon Theatre — was spotted at Miami hot spot Liv on Sunday night. A spy said Wayne was living it up alongside rapper Nelly and added, “They were with a big group of women and stayed until 4 a.m.” Wayne needs to get all his partying done before February’s sentencing, when he’s expected to be handed a year in jail…”

Lil Wayne On The Cover Of Billboard

Lil Wayne graces the cover of Billboard Magazine for there new issue.

Given earlier leaks from the project, did you make many changes to the final version?

As of now Rebirth is coming out as a double disc with a [disc of songs] by Young Money. I had to add new cuts because a lot of things leaked, making people think they had an idea of what I was doing with Rebirth and what it would sound like. And I hated that because I never want anybody to think they know what I’m doing until I present it. So what I did was make it totally different I flipped it.

Does the album still lean toward rock?

Yes, the album is still rock. I play guitar on 80% of the songs and there’s a lot of rock influences and rock beats. I also have Travis Barker on the album. But I don’t want people to think I’m trying to do something I can’t do. Don’t think you’re going to put on the album and hear me screaming and singing . . . Don’t worry about that [laughs]. When people hear me say rock, they may get a little scared like, Oh, God. What is he going to do? When I said I was doing a rock album, it was about doing a freedom thing. This album isn’t hip-hop. When I do my Carter albums, I know I’ve got to rap, I know I’ve got to spit. I know the words I’ve got to say and the subjects I’ve got to talk about. I also know the things I shouldn’t say, the things I shouldn’t talk about. There’s none of those limits on this album. I say what I want, how I want. That’s what this album is: a freedom album. And rock is the avenue that gives you that freedom. I’m just having fun, that’s all. Trust me: People will like these songs. It’s my job to make them love them, but I know for a fact they’ll like them.
