Boi-1da Speaks On New Track “Forever”; “We Made That Song Maybe Last Summer”

DrakeForeverSingleArtworkTCC

With “Forever,” the monster collaboration by Toronto-upstart Drake and rap superstars Kanye West, Lil Wayne and Eminem, leaking onto the net yesterday (August 26) and subsequently causing a frenzy with hip-hop fans, XXL Magazine caught up with the track’s producer, Boi-1da, to get more insight into how the song came together.

According to the beatmaker (based in Toronto), the track was initially meant to introduce Drake last year. “We made that song maybe last summer,” he explains. “It was originally supposed to be a song that Drake was supposed to come out to, maybe we were trying to make it like a first single. Somehow it got leaked out onto the Internet, a version with him, Wayne and some dude named [Nut da] Kid and everybody was upset about it or whatever, but we knew that it was just a huge record and we had to do it justice.”

Three months ago, Kanye West decided to record a verse for the song. “Originally it was supposed to be Drake and Kanye, but the forces that be pulled some strings and we got Eminem and Wayne on it too.”

According to Boi-1da, Drizzy first penned the hook and his verse. Then Kanye wrote his lines as a response to Drake. Weezy F Baby then recorded his verse after hearing Drake and Ye’s, and Eminem heard everyone’s rhymes before adding his bars to the track.

XXL asked Boi-1da who he thinks had the best verse, and he answered right away. “Honestly I’m gonna have to be biased and say Drake. Really it’s between Drake and Eminem. I’ve never seen anybody hold up on a song with Eminem, like usually Eminem blows out. Drake’s my dude, and he’s my favorite rapper, but knowing Eminem I thought he was gonna blow by everybody, but Drake came strong. It’s like a toss up. And like that’s never been done before, I never heard a toss up between Eminem, it’s always just Eminem cause he’s a monster.”

Mack Maine, the President of Young Money, told MTV that the group is currently trying out RnB singers to redo the chorus, but 1da believes the leaked track is the final version. “That’s news to me,” he said. “I like the hook as it is.”

“Forever” hits iTunes tomorrow. It will be included in the soundrack to the LeBron James documentary, More Than a Game.

Birdman Speaks On Cash Money & Says Drake’s Album Coming September 15

While Wayne is undoubtedly the face of the Cash Money movement, it is Bryan “Birdman” Williams who is one of the main reasons the label has risen to the prominence it’s at now. Backstage at KS1075’s Back 2 School Jam, Birdman found some time to speak on a variety of subjects including:

*The evolution of Cash Money Records

*Drake’s injury
*Other projects he is currently working on
*The talent on Cash Money

Omarion Chose To Leave Young Money?

Well this is a big surprise! After every big hip hop news source including NewLilWayne.com had announced that Omarion had been dropped from Young Money (supposedly) for leaking a song, he now claims he chose to leave the label. Take a look below at what Mr. Grandberry tweeted just minutes ago:

Omarion’s Tweet explaining his departure from Young Money

“There’s a lot of peeps thinking I got dropped from Y.m [Young Money]. That has never nor will ever be the case I asked to be released, I didn’t get dropped. I wish Wayne and all of Y.m good luck for [their] future. There are no hard feelings, business is business and I made a decision that I felt was best for me. Album OLLUSION still coming, video still coming really soon love y’all thanks for holding me down!”

This certainly comes as a big surprise for us, yet it does leave us a bit more confident about the current state of Young Money; there was no ‘kicking out’ after all.

Omarion Officially Dropped From Young Money For Leaking Song

omarion
Recently R&B singer Omarion was welcomed with open arms to the Young Money family, and even appeared onstage with Weezy last week in California. However now it seems the singer is getting the boot from Young Money just hours after an apparent single ["I Get It In"] with rapper Lil Wayne was leaked online. No word if the leaked single had anything to do with the sudden departure of the star, however many insiders are saying that was what caused the rift. Apparently an anonymous source had been sending blogs the track all week long, and that it was not the final cut and it had not been approved.

Late tonight word hit the internet when Young Money artist and president Mack Maine tweeted the following message.

Soon there after fellow Young Money artists Lil Twist and Jae Millz co-signed with a re-tweet. I wonder what exactly went down? At this point calls and emails to Mack Maine and his management have not been returned, however I am sure we will hear something soon.
