Mack Maine Addresses Lil Wayne’s Sentence, Albums [Video]

In the video above, Mack Maine, the president of Young Money, speaks to AllHipHop.com. He talks about Lil Wayne’s sentence to a year in jail, as well as the upcoming year with Cash Money, Young Money, and Lil Wayne releases. Read what AllHipHop wrote below:

Jail time may be imminent for Lil Wayne, but it’s business as usual for the rap star’s Young Money record label and crew.

According to the label’s president Mack Maine, all efforts are geared toward releasing new material from Young Money’s stable of artists as well as maintaining its current standing in the eyes of rap fans.

The label is currently enjoying the success and buzz generated by rapper Drake. The Canadian artist is set to release his highly-anticipated album, Thank Me Later, next year.

“My main focus and priority right now [is the] Young Money album December 15,” Mack Maine told AllHipHop.com, while mentioning future releases from Lil Wayne and Cash Money artists such as Baby and Jay Sean. “Rebirth, December 15. Baby album, November. 23. That’s the main shit. Jay Sean, November 23 too. So that’s what I’m worried about right now.”

The arrival of the Young Money albums comes as Lil Wayne prepares to serve time in prison, after pleading guilty last week to attempted weapons possession. The plea was the result of a 2007 incident when authorities stopped the rapper’s tour bus after a concert in New York.

Lil Wayne faces a year in jail from that case. Despite, the circumstances, Mack Maine mentioned that Lil Wayne is “good.”

“We ain’t even looking at that. We just making sure everything goes straight with these new projects and making sure we eating.’ Keep it moving,” the executive stated. “No matter what, we wake up everyday expecting the unexpected. So nothing come to us as a surprise. You just gotta move through adversity, you know.”

Mack Maine is hopeful things will work out to quicken Lil Wayne’s return after he begins his sentence in February.

“It’s supposed to be eight months, but you know how that go,” the rapper/music executive said. “They can get that cut down. Hopefully he won’t have to do the whole eight.”

Lil Wayne’s attachment to Young Money has provided a bridge towards the label’s alliance with Louisiana-based Cash Money Records, a union Mack Maine sees as beneficial to both parties well as Drake and fellow Young Money artists Nicki Minaj, Gudda Gudda, Jae Millz, Lil Twist, Lil Chuckee, Shanell, Tyga. Short Dawg and T-Streets.

“You combine Young Money with Cash Money, that’s crazy. They got Jay Sean, Kevin Rudolf, Bow Wow. You got some other artists too that’s about to come out,” Mack Maine told AllHipHop.com. “You got so much diversity in different genres, we just about to take over,” said Mack Maine, who sees infinite possibilities for Young Money in the coming months while predicting the label will go “somewhere it’s never been taken, somewhere we never went.”

“I don’t know where we gonna land. Hopefully, we never land,” he added as he encouraged fans to pick up Gudda Gudda’s upcoming mixtape, Bills, as well as Tyga’s soon to be released effort Black Thoughts.

“Keep going though, no ceilings. That’s the name of the new [Lil Wayne] mixtape that just leaked. So if it’s no ceilings, what’s the top? There is no top.”

Omarion Officially Dropped From Young Money For Leaking Song

omarion
Recently R&B singer Omarion was welcomed with open arms to the Young Money family, and even appeared onstage with Weezy last week in California. However now it seems the singer is getting the boot from Young Money just hours after an apparent single ["I Get It In"] with rapper Lil Wayne was leaked online. No word if the leaked single had anything to do with the sudden departure of the star, however many insiders are saying that was what caused the rift. Apparently an anonymous source had been sending blogs the track all week long, and that it was not the final cut and it had not been approved.

Late tonight word hit the internet when Young Money artist and president Mack Maine tweeted the following message.

Soon there after fellow Young Money artists Lil Twist and Jae Millz co-signed with a re-tweet. I wonder what exactly went down? At this point calls and emails to Mack Maine and his management have not been returned, however I am sure we will hear something soon.

Birdman: Weezy, Mack Maine, Drake on ‘Always Strapped’ Album

Lil-Wayne-Birdman
Birdman recently spoke on his upcoming album in an interview, where he told us about the future of Cash Money Records and Young Money Entertainment. Baby spoke on how Young Mula is the next generation of Cash Money Records and they’re all a family, he wishes Lil Wayne more success than himself. When asked about whether his age should have a factor in his career, Birdman replied “If you making money, who could say anything if you’re progressing. To me, money makes sense.” Check out the entire interview below, props to AllHipHop for this one and be sure to let us know what you think in the comments section.
AllHipHop: Is there a difference between Birdman and Baby?

Baby: To me the names came with time and what we was doing. I always been Baby, that’s been like my real name. That’s all I ever knew is Baby, that’s what everybody call me. Birdman is just what you see on TV.

AllHipHop: So Baby is the evolution of what Bryan used to be?

Baby: Believe that.

AllHipHop: You’re about to drop your fourth solo album…

Baby: That’s my fourth one? It feel like more. I come from a group, so I look at all those albums too. It seem like a long time to just be done put four solo albums out.

AllHipHop: How is this one different from everything else that you’ve done?

Baby: I think everything we do, we try to grow with it. We wanna show progression and growth. That’s the only way, really, to survive. That’s the main reason why we survive: we show growth, we never dry, we try to be spicy, we try to be creative. With this album, ‘cause we been doing it so much, just tryna be creative, tryna stay above the rim. Growing. Still growing and letting the label grow; and us growing with the experience of life, we bring that to our music.

AllHipHop: When Cash Money first came on the scene, it was almost like adding a chapter to Hip-Hop history. You guys played a big role in bringing Southern Hip-Hop to the mainstream. All these years later, how do you keep the sound fresh?

Baby: Doing new stuff, not trying to do what we done did. We let the “Bling-bling” era go. That’s one thing we had to do. We had to let go what we already accomplished. You know everything you did last year don’t count for what you have to do this year. And our motivation is that we really have a love and a passion for what we do. My son wanna be the best, I wanna be the best at what I do. So, just having them ambitions and feeding our family and loving what we do… We don’t like to be like everybody else, we wanna be us, just in ourselves. And we know music. We been doing it a long time. We try to stay in the club with our music, that’s one thing we do. And just keep upgrading it every chance we get, and bring new talent in.

AllHipHop: How much of a role do the people who work with you on the music play in keeping the sound fresh?

Baby: Nowadays, when people work with us, they bring their best. Back in the days, we used to bring the best out of people. Nowadays, people coming to you with they best and they be having beats for days. Everybody wanna work with you, that feel good. And everybody give you they best. It makes you wanna go that much harder when people feeling what you doing.

AllHipHop: Who worked with you on the new album?

Mack Maine Speaks On His Music, His Connection With Wayne, & His Role In Young Money

Below is a recent interview Young Money artist Mack Maine did with Yo Raps. In the interview he speaks on his music, his connections with Wayne and Young Money, and much more. Check it out below and let us know what you think in the comments section.

Tell me when this musical journey first began for Mack Maine?

I first started back when I was a kid watching Baby and the Hot Boys record. I was around them all the time, so I started playing around with it; rhyming with kids around the hood, battling, making fun of people. I kept pursuing it, and eventually got serious with it.

So, you’ve actually been connected to Wayne pretty much your whole life?

I’ve known Wayne since we were kids. We were always cool.

Is that why you just went ahead with the obvious and signed to Young Money?

I was signed with a label called Infinity Records, and then signed a deal with a NBA player that didn’t really work out. I shot a video with two unsigned rappers, and it went on BET Uncut and Wayne saw it. He called me, and didn’t know I was a free agent. He thought I was already picked up. I flew out to meet with him, and it’s been history ever since. We were always under the same umbrella though — We been cool since way back.

Has the whole magnitude of this situation actually sunk in yet?

When I heard a song I was on come on the radio, that’s when I knew I could take it to the next level.

From there, you officially became Mack Maine?

My real name is Jermaine, and people used to call me Maine. I used to be Young Maine, but there were too many “Youngs” out there. I’ve always had a way with the ladies, so the Mack came on and it made it Mack Maine — Bitch, I’m Mack Mainnnnnnnne!

You also now serve as VP of the imprint, so what are some of your ultimate goals and plans for Young Money?

For everybody to go platinum or better! I want every artist in Young Money to be successful, and to be able to establish themselves as individual artists.

How do you categorize what it is that you do on the mic?

Real! I speak what’s real. I got a catchy flow. I’m really versatile. I can change up my delivery on any beat. I can fuck with any genre. I rap on emotions, and rap on what I feel.
